Digitally Displayed Commercials (DDC) – Tsongas Arena
The Digitally Displayed Commercial is a revenue share between Captivating Ads, SMG, and UMass Lowell. The DDC is a silent commercial that will appear at the Tsongas Arena on two strategically placed 42” plasmas in the Tsongas Arena box office lobby and five large screen plasmas on the main concourse. Your commercial will be displayed to hundreds of thousands of people annually at the Tsongas Arena. On average, the Tsongas Arena hosts between 140 and 160 events per year with an average of 350,000-400,000 fans per year. Your commercial will be viewed a minimum of 10 times per hour on all monitors, at every event hosted at the Tsongas Arena! A typical event at Tsongas Arena is 3-4 hours long; therefore, your commercial will be viewed 30-40 times throughout an event.

The River Hawks can create a season long promotion tailored to meet your specific needs/interests. In the past, we have successfully assisted companies in creating brand awareness, increasing store traffic, growing their businesses, and introducing new products/services.
In-Game Promotions – Tsongas Arena & Costello Gym
Game day promotions are offered for anyone interested in marketing their product/company to a viewing audience during the intermission of a home hockey game or during halftime of a men's and women's basketball game.
Mites on Ice – Tsongas Arena
Here at UMass Lowell, we are looking to expand our partnerships with area Youth Hockey programs. Not only is this a great experience for the players, but it is also a fundraising opportunity for the team. The Mites on Ice Program is a chance for teams to play during the 1st Intermission of a River Hawks home game at the Tsongas Arena. Each team will purchase a minimum number of tickets to a mutually agreed upon River Hawks home game. UML will sell you the tickets at a discounted rate of $4 per ticket (up to a 60% savings per ticket). Teams can then sell the tickets for any desired amount, as long as the price does not exceed the face value of $10 per ticket. For example, if you sell the tickets at $7 each, your team will receive $3 on every ticket sold.
This agreement is specific to UML hockey games. As part of the partnership, sponsors are assigned tables on the concourse at the Tsongas Arena to display their products and/or materials. Sponsors then use these displays to market and promote their products/company during select UML home hockey games.
Birthday Party Package – Tsongas Arena
Each birthday celebration includes 10 tickets to a hockey game, 10 food vouchers, a special gift for the birthday child, and a birthday bag full of party favors for each party-goer. Birthday party room rentals are available upon request.
Family Value Pack – Tsongas Arena
By combining affordability with convenience, the UMass Lowell River Hawks offer a special ticket package. The Family Value Pack is fun and most importantly will not leave you with an empty wallet. It includes four (4) tickets to a hockey game, four (4) hot dogs, and four (4) Pepsi sodas.
UMass Lowell Kids Club – Promotional Opportunity
UML Kids Club membership is open to all children 12 & under. The program is designed to offer affordable family entertainment throughout the year, encourage athletic participation, as well as supply certain membership discounts and information on the UMass Lowell programs. A kid's club membership includes free admission into all basketball games, a UML Kids Club visor and T-shirt, a newsletter, a membership card, a hockey season ticket, and the ability to win prizes at all home hockey/basketball games.
Blue Fan Group (BFG) – Promotional Opportunity
The Blue Fan Group is the official student fan group at UMass Lowell. The BFG was established in 2002 and has grown significantly each year. In 2004, the total membership increased over 25%. For $20, UMass Lowell students can purchase a Blue Fan Group membership, which includes a BFG T-shirt, free admission to all athletic events for the year (when wearing the T-shirt), and the opportunity to win cash and prizes at several of the athletic events throughout the year.
River Hawk Flex Book – Promotional Opportunity
The flex book offers the ultimate flexibility for the avid UML sports fan, those seeking family nights out, or for a company looking to reward employees and/or clients. Each flex book contains 12 vouchers. Each voucher provides admission for one patron, regardless of age, to any UML home athletic event. Vouchers are good for best seat availability at the time of redemption.
Throughout the course of the season, UML runs a number of newspaper ads promoting each of the River Hawks home games. For each home game, newspaper ads are typically placed two days prior to the game, the day before the game, and on the day of the game.
Pocket Schedules – Promotional Opportunity
Each year, UML produces approximately 15,000 pocket schedules for the fall sports teams, 65,000 pocket schedules for the hockey team, and 15,000 pocket schedules for the spring sports teams. The pocket schedules are distributed throughout the greater Lowell area to local businesses, including restaurants, sporting goods stores, coffee shops, etc. All pocket schedules are distributed in pocket schedules holders. Further, the pocket schedules can be found in the Tsongas Arena box office and are dispersed throughout campus on a routine basis.
Game Day Program Advertisements - Promotional Opportunity
Each year, UML produces approximately 8,500 programs for the ice hockey team. The programs are sold at all UML home hockey games throughout the year.
Options include:
- Title Sponsor – includes front cover exposure,
- Presenting Sponsor – includes 2” x 5” ads on one of the inserts in the program,
- Player Trading cards sponsorship.
Ticket Backs - Promotional Opportunity
Each year, UML prints out thousands of tickets for hockey and basketball games. Many of the tickets are purchased in advance (i.e. season tickets, group orders, birthday party packs and family value packs), which ensures that sponsor logos and promotional offers on the back of the tickets will receive a great deal of exposure.
Options include:
- Logo inclusion on the back of the hockey tickets (season tickets, group orders, birthday party packs & family value packs),
- Logo inclusion on the back of the men's and women's basketball tickets (individual tickets, season tickets and group tickets)
- 3' x 8' ring beam sign for hockey and 3' x 6' backlit sign for basketball games,

UMass Lowell Golf Tournament - Promotional Opportunity
The UMass Lowell Golf Tournament was established in 1990 and continues to attract faculty, staff, alumni, corporate partners, and other friends each year. The tournament is played at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua , NH , formerly rated by Golf Digest Magazine as the premier course in the granite state. The scramble format enables golfers of all ability levels, from the novice fairway duffer to the polished long-ball striker, to compete as a team in four flights determined by average handicaps and participate in various individual challenges such as the longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests.
Valley Cup - Promotional Opportunity
The Valley Cup Challenge was reinstated during the 2003-04 year with the intention of developing a scholarship fund and creating some friendly competition between two neighboring schools. The coveted Valley Cup represents a contest between UMass Lowell and Merrimack College in which the school that wins the most head-to-head regular season games each year is crowned victorious. The winning school is awarded the Valley Cup and the scholarship fund for that particular year. The scholarship fund is currently at $5,000. The goal is to continue to increase the value of the scholarship fund on an annual basis, along with increasing the rivalry between UML and Merrimack College.
Miscellaneous
- Rowdy the River Hawk Appearance – Rowdy is the official UMass Lowell Mascot. You can have Rowdy appear at any special occasion (company function, holiday parties, grand openings, birthday parties, etc.).
- Public Address Announcements (PA) – Announcements are read over the loud speaker at all home hockey and men's and women's basketball games.
- Matrix Messages – Text messages are put up on the scoreboard at all home hockey games.
- Season Ticket Mailings – The River Hawks send out routine mailings to season ticket holders throughout the year.
- Blimp Drops – A blimp hovers over the stands at all home hockey games dropping promotional coupons and gift certificates.
- Tickets to hockey games – Season tickets, club box tickets.
- Radio sponsorships on WUML 91.5 FM – All UML hockey games are broadcasted live on WUML and on GoRiverHawks.com. On-air mentions, in-game features and radio spots are available upon request.
- Hospitality rooms at hockey games – Rooms available on the concourse at Tsongas Arena during all home hockey games. Rooms include tables, chairs, and couches. Hospitality rooms can accommodate large groups of people and food can be ordered through Boston Concessions. These facilities can also be used for off site corporate meetings.
